The Cathedral of Puno

The Cathedral is located in the main square of the city of Puno. It was built in 1756 according to the model of the Church of the company of Jesus in Cusco, commissioned by Miguel de San Román Miner, benefactor of the city. It has a beautiful facade of mestizo style which holds carvings of human figures and sirens playing charangos. Inside highlights its altar of marble, which houses three images considered miraculous: the Virgin of los Remedios, who saved the miners of Santa Barbara from a collapse in the 16th century; the Lord of the quinary, given by the King of Spain; and the Lord of the bullet, so called because a projectile went through it during a skirmish between Biscay and Andalusians.

PARK HUAJSAPATA

It is located four blocks from the main square of Puno. It is a hill of 45 m high, which serves as a lookout. From this Hill, you can see a good view, the town of Puno and Lake. At its peak, there is a monument to Manco Capac, mythical founder of Cusco, which - according to the legend - emerged from Lake Titicaca.
Another viewpoint is the Deustua arch, 10 min from the Centre, in the Independencia Street.

MUSEO MUNICIPAL DREYER

The Dreyer Municipal Museum is located in the main square of Puno. Founded by the German Carlos Dreyer, this collection has an interesting art gallery and pre-Hispanic objects as silverware, ceramics, textiles and lithic pieces of pre-Hispanic period... A numismatic collection and several documents on the founding of the city are also preserved. To the side is the Casa del Corregidor.

CASA DEL CORREGIDOR

It is located on the side of the Dreyer Museum. This colonial House of the seventeenth century boasts an exhibition of art Puno, a coffee bar and Internet access. It is dedicated to the dissemination of cultural activities.

ARTISANS MARKET

It meets in Cahuide St. Alfonso Ugarte. There, you can purchase garments of alpaca and sheep. In addition you can buy pottery and masks, among other objects, at very reasonable prices.

BALCONY OF THE CONDE DE LEMOS

Located next to the Cathedral of Puno. This colonial House housed the viceroy Conde de Lemos when he arrived to quell the revolts of 1668.

FUNDO CHINCHEROS

It is a ranch located 8 km from the city of Puno, on the shores of Lake Titicaca. It is a good place where walking or horse riding.
